How a drop works

    Your file is cut into 8 MB pieces, and each piece is sealed with AES-256-GCM before it leaves this tab. Its name and type are sealed too.

    Only the sealed pieces are uploaded, straight to Hippius, the storage network on Bittensor subnet 75. tensorBox's own server never handles the file.

    It goes after the # in the link, and browsers never send that part to any server. Whoever has the link can open the file. Nobody else can, including us.

Straight answers about what tensorBox can and can’t see.

Can tensorBox see my files?

No. We store sealed bytes, their sizes and a few times. The key that opens a file is only in its link, after the #, and browsers don't send that part to servers.

Can I trust a web page to do the encryption?

Here's the honest limit: whoever serves this page's code could change it to leak keys. That's true of any web app that encrypts in your browser. We keep that risk small: there are no third-party scripts or analytics here, and a strict content security policy blocks code from anywhere else.

What if I lose the link?

Then nobody can open the file, and there's no reset. If you unlocked your drop list when you made the drop, you can copy the link again from My drops.

How long does a drop last?

1, 3 or 7 days, your choice. You can also stop it after a set number of downloads. Then its pieces are deleted from storage.

Why sign in with a wallet?

So only you can list and delete your drops. Signing in is a free signature on Base: it moves no funds and costs no gas. The people you send links to don't need a wallet.

What does it cost?

Nothing for now. A drop holds up to 2 GB, and each wallet can keep 5 GB of live drops. Paid options for bigger and longer drops are planned.

What stops people from sharing illegal files?

Every download page has a button to report the drop, and reported drops can be deleted without opening them. Each wallet also has a storage limit.
